Isle of Man announces tax transparency plans

The Isle of Man has broken ranks with rival offshore centres by announcing plans for the automatic exchange of tax information, in a sign of the intensifying pressure on people investing money offshore.

The announcement by the small Crown dependency in the Irish Sea is an attempt to put itself at the forefront of international tax co-operation, while pre-empting tougher disclosure rules that may be forced on offshore centres by the European Union.
