Oaktree to buy fund based in Singapore

Oaktree Capital, the US private equity firm, is to acquire a Singapore-based investment fund to help beef up its exposure to Asia's fast-growing real estate sector.

Los Angeles-based Oaktree is purchasing Pangaea Capital Management, which has invested $2bn in Asia since the start of 2006 - largely in real estate. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
