Watchdog criticises policing of G20 protests

Police have been told to make immediate changes to the way they control public protests after the body overseeing complaints against officers took the unusual step of disclosing more allegations of brutality at April’s G20 demonstrations.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is often accused of being soft on law enforcers and was criticised by the family of Ian Tomlinson, a newspaper seller who collapsed and later died after an incident involving an officer.
