ST Ericsson cuts 1,200 jobs

ST Ericsson, the world’s second largest maker of mobile phone chips, said it was planning to cut 1200 jobs or 15 per cent of its workforce, mainly in Europe, because of the dramatically reduced demand for handsets.

The cuts will come on top of 500 job losses already announced last November.
