Cuomo targets debt settlement company fees

Andrew Cuomo, the New York attorney-general, has launched a fresh broadside against companies that prey on borrowers in distress with an investigation into practices in the loan modification industry.

Mr Cuomo was investigating 15 companies over the fees they charged homeowners struggling to avoid foreclosure, his office said.
