Tate & Lyle, the sweeteners group, has named Javed Ahmed, the head of Reckitt Benckiser’s European operations, as its chief executive.

Mr Ahmed will succeed Iain Ferguson, Tate’s chief executive for the past six years, on a date yet to be determined, but no later than November 15.
