Many watchmakers are approaching Baselworld this year with trepidation, amid unparalleled concerns about where the world economy is heading and what that means for their industry.

But the tension will be palpable at Breitling, the Swiss chronometer specialist, which is simultaneously celebrating its 125th anniversary and unveiling a new timepiece based on its first home-grown movement, five years in the making.
