Babcock loses Network Rail bid

Babcock International, the engineering support services company, has placed its rail division under review after losing out in a bid for a five year, £250m ($400m) contract, to operate and maintain track renewal systems for Network Rail.

The rail division has struggled for some time with underperforming contracts and Peter Rogers, chief executive, said that the company would explore options for improving margins now that its long term revenue streams were clearer.
