Rolls offers cautious outlook for the year

Rolls-Royce on Thursday offered a cautious view of the coming year, predicting that underlying profits would be broadly similar to 2008 and warned that it would not be immune from the deterioraton of the global economy.

Sir John Rose, chief executive, said he nevertheless expected the company to remain resilient and that it was better prepared to weather the downturn than in previous years.
