Fresnillo, the world’s largest primary silver producer, has dropped its $179m (£109m) hostile takeover bid for Canada’s MAG Silver.

The London-listed Mexican company said on Monday that it had dropped the bid because of what it saw as excessive delays in an independent valuation of MAG.
