Debt relief ‘accounts for bulk of the increase in aid’

Development aid from the world’s richest countries exceeded $100bn for the first time in 2005 but the 31 per cent increase was exaggerated by debt relief, principally for Iraq and Nigeria, and help for tsunami sufferers in Asia.
