Iraq's cabinet yesterday approved the draft of a law governing the country's oil industry that would open the door to much-needed investment, officials said.

The law still has to be approved by parliament, which is out of session until next week, and there remain several key documents that need to be written to complete the full legislative package governing the oil industry.
