Chrysler held talks to build Fiats in US

Chrysler confirmed Wednesday that it had held talks with Fiat to use some of its idle North American capacity to build vehicles for the Italian carmaker.

The move fits Chrysler’s drive to overcome its weak financial position and reliance on North America through partnerships with other carmakers. It is also gearing up to make Nissan trucks and Volkswagen minivans in the US and Canada.
