Data probe into Terminal 5 security

The data protection watchdog has launched an investigation into plans to fingerprint passengers at Heathrow's new Terminal 5.

BAA, the airports operator, insisted yesterday that the probe by the information commissioner's office would not stop the opening of the £4.3bn terminal from going ahead on Thursday. However, the row with the government could result in an expensive requirement to change security measures at the flagship building.
