Freddie Mac rules out raising new capital

Freddie Mac yesterday ruled out any plans to raise new equity capital and rejected mounting speculation that the US government-chartered mortgage financier may not have enough capital to weather the US housing crisis.

"There is no dilutive capital raising plan," said Buddy Piszel, Freddie's chief financial officer. "Assuming market conditions don't get significantly worse than our current very conservative outlook, we have enough capital to continue our business."
