Bush reassures Asia on trade

President George W. Bush on Thursday said the Asia-Pacific region should consider seriously the idea of a regional trade agreement and warned North Korea against transferring nuclear weapons or materials to other countries.

His effort to reassure Asian countries that there was still US momentum behind further trade liberalisation comes amid concern about the impact of Democratic control of Congress following last week’s mid-term elections.
