Brown to call for global code on bankers' pay

Gordon Brown will propose a global code on executive pay and bonuses in the banking sector today in an attempt to eliminate the "short-term" remuneration policies that he believes fuelled the economic crisis.

The prime minister has returned from Washington this week convinced he can persuade the US and other Group of 20 countries to sign up to a package of ambitious reforms at an economic summit in London on April 2.
