Japan exports figures spur optimism

Japan on Wednesday unveiled further evidence that the rout suffered by its exporters in recent months is easing, fuelling hopes that the worst is over the world’s second-largest economy.

Though down a painful 39 per cent year-on-year, Japanese exports rose a seasonally adjusted 1.9 per cent in April compared with March -- their second consecutive month of such growth.
