Bank lending yet to pick up, say companies

Action by the government to recapitalise the banks and so increase the flow of lending to companies has failed to work effectively, according to a survey of manufacturers by the Financial Times.

In the survey of 55 manufacturers across a range of industries – part of the FT manufacturing barometer that tracks demand conditions in this sector – only two of the companies said the action had had a positive impact in terms of improving the flow of funds available for borrowing by industry.
