HSBC: Quiet support for money market funds under pressure

HSBC has given financial support to several of its money market funds, prompting comparisons of a guarantee on capital.

HSBC took the “commercial decision” to plough $687m (£471m, €506m) into a number of its money market funds in October 2008 to prevent them from “breaking the buck”.
