Crude price edges up on hurricane worries

Commodities prices on Friday rose broadly after the US Federal Reserve stepped in to mitigate the economic impact of the credit turmoil by cutting the discount rate at which it makes loans to banks.

However, in spite of the increase, commodities prices largely posted weekly losses with the exception of the energy complex, which was supported by fears of a hurricane. Base metals were hit on fears of a US economic slowdown.
