Gordon Brown sounded the effective death knell for plans to build a Las Vegas-style supercasino in Britain on Wednesday, announcing a summer review of the government’s contentious gambling strategy.
The prime minister told MPs the review will consider “whether regeneration might be a better way of meeting the needs” of the areas competing for the super-casino than going ahead with the proposed development. It was an ”issue on which there is no consensus,” Mr Brown said at prime minister’s questions in the Commons.
