The UK’s trade deficit narrowed in August as the value of goods exports rose to their highest level in a year, official data showed on Tuesday.
The goods deficit shrank to £6.9bn from an upwardly revised £7.4bn in July, the Office for National Statistics said - broadly in line with expectations despite a sharply higher oil deficit. The total trade deficit, including services, narrowed from £4.6bn to £4.1bn.
