FTSE stronger as US bail-out hopes rise

A return to favour for the cyclical industries Friday put InterContinental Hotels, the operator of Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn, among the top performers.

The hotels group jumped 8 per cent to 559p after Credit Suisse pitched the stock as an “attractive entry into the potential hotel recovery story”.
