Egyptian envoy urges Hamas to renounce violence

Omar Suleiman, Egypt’s intelligence chief and principle envoy on Palestinian affairs, threw his weight behind international efforts to pressure Hamas into moderation on Wednesday, saying the victors in Palestinian elections could not expect to form a government unless they first renounced violence and recognised Israel.
