Debate shows no consensus on rules

The European Commission has time to assess the impact of proposed rules for alternative investment managers before going ahead with legislation, according to Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, president of the European Socialist Party.

But such an assessment would show there was room to tighten the rules and close loopholes, he added, speaking at a debate in London on the proposed directive on alternative investment fund managers.
