Murdoch vows independent WSJ board

Rupert Murdoch stepped up efforts to gain the approval of Dow Jones’s controlling Bancroft family, offering them a seat on News Corp’s board and detailing plans for an independent editorial board for The Wall Street Journal if they sell to him.

In a letter dated May 11 to members of the family, Mr Murdoch said he was “unwilling to countenance” any interference in The Wall Street Journal’s journalistic independence.
