Go-ahead for hybrid embryo work

Two teams of scientists were given the go-ahead yesterday to create human-animal embryos for research.

The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority issued one-year research licences to the groups at King's College London and Newcastle University, after a consultation showed the public were "at ease" with the idea.
