Judges to gain new powers in fraud cases

Judges will be given sweeping new powers to compensate the victims of serial fraudsters under reforms introduced by the attorney general.

Britain is under pressure to bolster its reputation for tackling financial crime in the wake of scandals such as those surrounding Bernard Madoff and Sir Allen Stanford, both of whom had connections with London.
