Morgan Stanley has agreed to sell its retail asset management business, including Van Kampen Investments, to Invesco in a stock and cash deal valued at $1.5bn, the bank said on Monday.

The sale, which is expected to close in mid-2010, was part of a plan to allow Morgan Stanley to focus on its institutional client base, the bank said. Morgan Stanley will receive a 9.4 per cent interest in Invesco.
