Savers hoping to open a cash individual savings account (Isa) this weekend - before the 2008-09 tax year ends at midnight on Sunday - will need to check that they can still access the best deals via a branch or the internet.

Barclays, RBS and NatWest, which currently offer the highest-paying variable rate Isas, will be taking branch applications until close of business on Saturday, April 4, according to Moneysupermarket.com. Some branches of Barclays will also be open on Sunday for customers paying in with cash or by account transfer.
