Test signals move towards atomic weapon

North Korea appears to have conducted a more credible nuclear test than its first detonation of a nuclear device in October 2006.

Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff, said on Monday that the US needed a few days to verify the North Korean claims, but added that there was no indication that they had not performed a test.
