China said on Tuesday that Japan’s attempt to seek a United Nations resolution against North Korea was “overreaction” and would only add to tensions in the region.

“China believes Japan’s proposal is an overreaction and if adopted would increase anxiety in the region,” said Jiang Yu, a spokeswoman of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
