Brown and Cameron in US poll row

Gordon Brown and David Cameron clashed in the Commons on Wednesday as both attempted to claim that, indirectly, they were the winners of the US presidential election.

The prime minister and Conservative leader quickly grasped the potency of the Obama effect on British politics, and their early-morning messages of congratulations to the president-elect were blatantly self-regarding.
