Nortel shares fall after it seeks advice on bankruptcy

Shares in Nortel Networks fell 20 per cent on Wednesday after the telecommunications equipment company said it had sought legal advice on a possible bankruptcy protection filing should its latest restructuring plan fail.

The already battered stock fell another 13 Canadian cents to C$0.51 on the Toronto Stock Exchange in spite of the Canadian company saying that “no bankruptcy court filing is imminent”.
