Retailer buys ‘social’ search engine

Sears Holdings, one of the largest US retailers, has stepped into the world of online social networking by acquiring a ”people-powered” internet search engine.

The retailer, which operates over 4,000 Sears and Kmart stores in the US and Canada, said yesterday it had bought Delver.com, a small “social search engine” development company based in Israel, for an undisclosed sum.
