Danone’s leaner diet faces economic test

Franck Riboud has spent the past five years so radically reshaping Danone, the French food company of which he is chairman and chief executive, that employees refer to it as the “new Danone”.

Out went beer, cheese, snacks and biscuits and in came a healthier diet of baby food and clinical nutrition, supplementing its mainstay yoghurt and bottled water.
