UK wins review of greenhouse gas output limit

The UK government scored a victory against the European Commission on Tuesday in its battle to increase the amount of carbon dioxide that British businesses may emit.

The European Court of First Instance ruled that the Commission must consider a revision to the UK’s national plan for allocating carbon dioxide emission allowances to business under the EU’s greenhouse gas emissions trading scheme. The Commission refused to allow such a revision earlier this year.
