Doubt cast on Postbank’s appeal

The possible sale of Deutsche Postbank is causing some hard thinking by bank executives in and outside Germany.

Deutsche Post, Postbank’s owner – whose chief executive, Frank Appel, said that he “felt no rush or haste” to countenance a sale – is not the only company weighing its options carefully. Potential buyers are scrutinising the strategic value of a bank with a market capitalisation of €10bn ($15.3bn).
