Austria warned it might cancel its €2bn ($2.7bn, £1.4bn) order for Eurofighter Typhoon military jets on Wednesday, after it emerged that a lobbyist for the manufacturer paid €87,600 to a company controlled by the wife of the country’s airforce commander.

Cancellation would be a severe blow to the four-nation Eurofighter consortium of the UK, Germany, Italy and Spain.
