Stagecoach’s move revives National Express

National Express, the debt-laden bus and rail operator, expects to make a decision on a merger proposal from Stagecoach within the next few days, after its board met on Monday.

Stagecoach has drawn up proposals that would see National Express take up to 40 per cent of a merged group, estimated to be worth £1.7bn ($2.8bn).
