Fresh concern over the outlook for high street retailers put pressure on the FTSE 100 in London on Tuesday.

The benchmark index slid 25.6 points or 0.4 per cent at 5,746.8. The FTSE 250 index shed 44.2 points or 0.5 per cent to 9,243.5. Volume was a firm 4bn shares.
