US banks told to reveal executive pay

The US congressman presiding over hearings on the financial crisis yesterday ordered nine big US financial firms, which are collectively receiving $125bn of public money, to turn over information about executive compensation and bonuses.

The request by Henry Waxman, chairman of the House of Representatives oversight committee, underlines the growing backlash against executive pay.
