Death penalty sought for al-Qaeda suspects

The Pentagon is seeking the death penalty for Khaled Sheikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of the 9/11 attacks, and five other al-Qaeda suspects held at Guantánamo Bay.

The charges are the first to be brought under the controversial military commissions system for the alleged plotters of the 9/11 attacks.
