Emerging markets setback for mobile phones

Mobile phone sales in emerging markets will be lower than many manufacturers hoped this year, according to new research, as rising inflation squeezes consumers there.

Publishing its mobile sales statistics for the three months to June 30, Gartner, the research company, said on Wednesday that it had identified evidence of lower-than-expected purchases by consumers in emerging markets during the second quarter.
