Senior figures at the Financial Services Skills Council on Tuesday hit back at Whitehall criticism of the agency’s effectiveness, describing the comments as “inappropriate” and “insulting”.

As the Financial Times reported on Tuesday, the FSSC, which is responsible for skills development in the beleaguered financial services sector, had come under fire from government officials, who said the agency needed a “kick up the backside” to encourage it to interact more with the sector.
