Protesters and police clashed Saturday in their most violent confrontations so far during this week?s World Trade Organisation ministerial meeting in Hong Kong.

Police used tear gas, water hoses and pepper spray to keep protesters, many of them from South Korea, away from the convention centre where the meeting was being held. Some of the protesters were able to break through police lines and ran towards the convention centre, chased by riot police.
