Britain has accused Iran of seeking to undermine western forces in Iraq by making contact with insurgents and supplying them with explosives that have been used in deadly attacks against US and UK soldiers.

A senior UK official yesterday said Britain had complained to the Iranian leadership that explosives technology used by Lebanon's Iranian-backed Hizbollah movement had been found in the hands of a renegade Shia faction.
