Highlights of Turnbull interview

In an interview with the Financial Times, Lord Turnbull, permanent secretary to the Treasury for four years under Gordon Brown before becoming cabinet secretary in 2002, talked about the management culture at the Treasury, the future for the civil service under a Brown premiership and the proliferation of special reports by outsiders.

Asked about Gordon Brown’s 10 years at the Treasury, Lord Turnbull said.
