Uruguay’s Senate passes bill allowing abortion

Uruguay’s Congress approved a measure to overturn a 70-year old ban on abortion, but a presidential veto is expected.

If the measure, part of a broader reproductive health bill, were to become law, Uruguay would be one of just three places in Latin America where abortion on demand is legal.
